After an 'intensive' national search the Canadian Energy Pipeline Association (CEPA) announced this week that Chris Bloomer has been appointed as the new President and CEO. He will begin his duties as soon as 1 December 2015.

In his new role, Mr. Bloomer will continue to execute on CEPA’s current mission to continually enhance the operating excellence, business environment and recognized responsibility of the Canadian energy transmission pipeline industry through leadership and credible engagement between member companies, governments, the public and stakeholders.

“I am honoured to be a part of the association’s focus on safety, transparency and shared commitment to continuous improvement,” says Bloomer. “CEPA and its member companies have spearheaded significant initiatives, best practices, and programs such as CEPA Integrity First®, which speak clearly to the industry’s unwavering duty to focus most on what matters to Canadians when it comes to our industry.”

Mr. Bloomer, a Geoscientist who started his career with Shell Canada, was most recently CEO of Connacher Oil and Gas Ltd. Prior to that, he was a Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer and Director with Petrobank Energy and Resources Ltd.
