Enbridge has successfully constructed the Heidelberg Offshore Crude Oil Pipeline, a 20-inch diameter, 36-mile pipeline in the Gulf of Mexico more three months ahead of schedule.

The Heidelberg is about 200 miles southwest of New Orleans, Louisiana, in depths of up to 5,300 feet of water. It is designed to move up to 120,000 barrels of oil a day produced by the Anadarko Petroleum Corporation.

“This project complements Enbridge’s sizable collection of offshore gas pipelines, and is the result of our focused efforts to grow the oil side of our offshore business,” notes Greg Harper, president of Enbridge Inc.’s Gas Pipelines and Processing division. “We’re extremely pleased that we could work with Anadarko and the Heidelberg producers to bring on this pipeline more than 90 days ahead of its target date.”
