A gas pipeline running through the Ugbokodo community in the Okpe Local Government Area and operated by the Nigerian Gas Company exploded several weeks ago, causing extensive material damage but sparing the loss of any human lives.

Management of the Nigerian Gas Company, NGC, has already begun the process of fixing the gas pipeline.

Ugbokodo-Okpe community Spokesman Mr. Tobore Adjisha, said that the gas pipeline explosion caused serious damage in the community, adding that residents they are still dazed and confused.

The chief concern of the community is that the pipeline be quickly repaired and that community members be adequately compensated for material damages suffered.

Adjisha said he is thus far not satisfied with the steps taken by the NGC. But he assures the company of an amicable environment for negotiating compensation with the villagers.
