Elecnor Awarded Large-Scale Water Transportation Project In Oman
Spanish infrastructure, energy and telecommunications group, Elecnor, has been awarded a contract to carry out a large water transmission and supply project in Oman. The project will be realized through a joint venture with TARGET and has a value of about 192 million Euro.
The project includes the construction of about 140 kilometres of pipeline, The joint venture is also set to build five fully equipped pumping stations during the construction, along with five new reservoirs with capacities to up to 50,000 m³. The final stage of the project includes the construction of all of the associated civil works. The project is estimated to be done in roughly two years.
The new infrastructure will double the water transportation capacity from desalination plants to the drinking water network, bolstering the supply in the Al Batinah region, one of the countries most populated regions.
Elecnor has a strong standing in Oman with several successfull projects in recent years.
