Egyptian integrated energy provider TAQA Arabia has officially entered the Jordanian market, launching a natural gas pipeline project to power Al-Rawdah Industrial City in the Ma’an Development Area.

The milestone marks the Cairo-based company’s first major project in the kingdom as part of a broader regional growth strategy.

The core of the initiative centers on constructing a 14-kilometer natural gas pipeline designed to reinforce energy infrastructure for the industrial region.

Built and operated by TAQA Arabia, the infrastructure project aims to supply local manufacturers with a more cost-effective and efficient fuel source, helping existing factories scale operations while attracting new industrial investments.

The project is financed through a Memorandum of Understanding between the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development and the Jordanian government, represented by the Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation.

High-ranking officials gathered to mark the project’s launch, including Jordanian Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Dr. Saleh Al-Kharabsheh, TAQA Arabia CEO Pakinam Kafafi, and representatives from the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development.

Kafafi highlighted the entry into Jordan as a strategic step leveraging Egypt’s role as a regional energy hub connecting Middle Eastern and African markets.

She noted that establishing a footprint in the kingdom aligns with TAQA’s goals to deliver reliable energy solutions and support long-term sustainable growth.

Eng. Tarek El-Hawary, managing director of subsidiary TAQA Gas, emphasized that construction of the 14-kilometer pipeline will adhere to high quality and safety standards.

He noted that delivering clean and reliable natural gas directly into the Ma’an Development Area will strengthen the local economy and address the evolving energy needs of Jordan's industrial sector.

To support its expansion, TAQA Arabia’s Board of Directors, chaired by Eng. Khaled Abu Bakr, authorized the establishment of a local branch in Jordan earlier this month.

The company already operates across Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Tanzania, Mozambique, and Pakistan, providing infrastructure, power, and gas services to high-demand markets across the Middle East, Africa, and Asia.
