Explosions Damage Key Russian Military Pipelines according Ukraine Intelligence Source
Explosions in Russia's far eastern city of Vladivostok damaged a gas pipeline and destroyed a water pipeline supplying military facilities early Friday, a source within Ukraine's military intelligence (HUR) told the Kyiv Independent on Friday.
The blasts were followed by a fire that ravaged sections of the Vladivostok gas pipeline along the coast of the Sea of Japan. One of the pipelines attacked supplied essential drinking water to military garrisons in the vicinity.
The incidents, occurring between 1 a.m. and 2 a.m. local time on July 5, prompted a swift response from Russian special services and repair teams, according to the Ukrainian intelligence source.
The damaged gas pipeline is a critical artery for several Russian military installations on the Sea of Japan, including the 155th Marine Brigade of the Pacific Fleet of the Russian Armed Forces.
Russia’s special service unit in the area reportedly switched off the internet to prevent the information about the pipeline attack from circulating online. However, the Kyiv Independent noted it could not independently verify the claims.
The alleged attacks come as Ukraine continues to target military objectives deep within Russian territory, aiming to degrade Moscow's combat capabilities.
On the same night, Ukraine's General Staff reported a drone strike on the Borisoglebsk airfield in Russia's Voronezh Oblast, damaging a warehouse reportedly containing guided bombs, aircraft, and other military assets.
That attack was part of a broader overnight drone assault that saw explosions and fires reported in at least six Russian regions.
