Exxon Restores Full Oil Production at Guyana FPSOs After Pipeline Tie-In
Exxon Mobil Corp. and its partners have restored full crude oil production at two floating production facilities in Guyana after completing a natural gas pipeline connection, the company’s spokesperson said Monday.
Oil output had fallen to between 400,000 and 500,000 barrels per day from July 2 to the end of the month, according to Guyanese government data, indicating the planned maintenance on the floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) vessels was underway.
Official data showed oil production stood at 669,000 barrels per day on June 30.
Exxon had previously announced plans to shut down two offshore FPSOs in Guyana for two-week periods each between July and August to connect a natural gas pipeline that will supply planned onshore power plants and gas processing facilities.
Oil production at one FPSO was halted from July 2 to 15, while the second FPSO suspended operations from July 19 to 31.
According to government data, the consortium's third facility remained operational throughout the maintenance period. However, Exxon clarified that the associated production volumes were deferred, not lost.
The Exxon-led consortium, which includes Hess Corp. and CNOOC Ltd., is responsible for all oil production in Guyana.
