A vital 34-kilometer underground pipeline designed to supply aviation turbine fuel to the upcoming Noida International Airport is nearing completion, promising enhanced efficiency and environmental benefits ahead of the airport's expected operational launch by mid-2025.

Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) and Noida International Airport Limited (NIAL) previously inked an agreement to construct the dedicated pipeline. It runs from BPCL's Piyala terminal in Faridabad, Haryana, directly to the airport's fuel tank farm in Jewar, Uttar Pradesh.

Officials report that 95% of the pipeline construction is finished, with remaining segments expected to be completed well before the airport opens.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Secretary Manoj Kumar Singh has reportedly directed all involved parties to finalize pending tasks by June 30.

The pipeline, which includes a 1.2-kilometer section within the airport premises, is designed to transport 1.5 million metric tonnes of jet fuel annually and can be expanded to meet future demand.

Buried one meter underground, the pipeline traverses 3.6 kilometers in Gautam Budh Nagar and the rest in Haryana. Land use permissions were obtained from 132 farmers in Jewar's Dayanatpur and Karoli Bangar villages, who were compensated at 10% of the area's circle rate.

Farmers retain full rights to cultivate their land above the pipeline, minimizing agricultural disruption.

The project is anticipated to improve fuel supply logistics and reduce carbon emissions by eliminating the need for road transport via tankers.
