Libyan National Oil Corporation Halts Pipeline Operation Due to Leak

Maintenance and emergency crews are working continuously to contain an oil leak in a crude oil pipeline south of Zawiya, Libya, after production was halted and pressure relieved.
The leak prompted the National Oil Corporation (NOC) to take immediate action to prevent further damage and environmental pollution.
NOC maintenance teams, led by the Arabian Gulf Oil Company, quickly responded to the discovery of the leak. To prevent further damage, officials shut down production from the Hamada fields, closed a valve in Alriyayna and opened flow valves at the Zawiya refinery to ease pressure on the affected pipeline.
Alongside these urgent measures, a team of specialists has begun investigating the cause of the leak. Efforts are also underway to clean up and recover spilled oil to mitigate any potential environmental impact.
The NOC's Board of Directors, including its chairman, is monitoring the situation around the clock. They are overseeing maintenance operations, site rehabilitation and issuing directives to effectively manage ongoing developments.
