Subsea 7 on Tuesday, October 19, announced major day-rate long-term contracts by Petrobras for pipelaying support vessels (PLSV)—Seven Rio, Seven Wave, and Seven Sun. The newly unveiled project will be entered in the record as a backlog in the fourth quarter, said Subsea 7 in their company news.

According to Subsea 7, each of the three contracts includes a firm three-year period plus a subsequent one-year option. Seven Waves will start the contract in Q1 of 2022, Seven Rio in Q2, and Seven Sun in Q3. Before starting the contracts, each of the three vessels will be taken through minor modifications that require a short shipyard as well as a modest capital expenditure.

But, the remaining Seven Rio's and Seven Wave's present contracts with  Petrobas will be moved to Seven Seas, which will be deployed to Brazil come 2022.

"We value our long-standing relationship with Petrobras, and these new contracts reflect well on our track record of delivering successful PLSV activities in Brazil, achieving high standards of safety and a strong operational performance," said Daniel Hiller Vice-President Brazil.

Subsea 7 is a global giant specialising in offshore projects delivery and services for the dynamic energy industry.  The company has a presence in key offshore energy regions worldwide.
