Gazprom Says A Big Section of the Nord Stream Pipelines Need To Be Replaced

Gazprom CEO Alexei Miller said late last week that a big section of the damaged Nord Stream 1 & 2 gas pipelines would need to be replaced.

"Experts say that in order to restore work after such a terrorist act, it is necessary to actually cut off a very large piece of pipe, at a great distance, and in fact build a new section on this section," Miller told a Russian TV station.

Several Arrested in a Foiled TurkStream Pipeline Attack, According to Russia

Russia claimed on Thursday, October 13, 2022, they had arrested people in a foiled attack on a section of the TurkStream gas pipeline located in Russia's territory, Interfax reported. According to the new agency's report, the Kremlin said it was beefing up the security of the TurkStream pipeline, which is critical in transporting Russian gas to Turkey.

Germany To Nationalize The Country's Largest Gas Importer

Germany has begun to nationalize gas importer Uniper in the wake of an energy crisis that has left the government of Europe's top economy with few other options to keep its industry going.

Germany is set to buy Fortum's (FORTUM.HE) 78% stake in Uniper and inject a further 8 billion euros ($8 billion US) into the energy group that is expected to give Berlin a stake of more than 90%.
