Putra Heights Gas Pipeline Explosion: Technical Report Ready by June 26, Says Selangor MB

A technical report on the recent Petronas gas pipeline explosion and fire in Putra Heights will be ready by June 26, 2025, providing more details on the cause of the disastrous incident that occurred on April 1.
According to a news report published by a local media outlet MalayMail on Tuesday, Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari said the report will be aligned with the details gathered through criminal investigations before being shared with the general public.
The technical investigations carried out under the Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH) seek to uncover possible technical issues that might have resulted in the pipeline explosion that resulted in a massive fire that left more than 150 injured and millions in property damage.
The technical investigation report will include details on potential engineering blunders, pipeline integrity, and possible natural causes, such as ground movement. These will help determine the exact cause of the incident.
“We cannot release our criminal investigation now because we need to combine it with the technical investigation, as there are still areas that need to be identified from the criminal investigation,” he said when met after an e-Bike Handover Ceremony at the Selangor Police Contingent headquarters on Tuesday.
On May 27, Selangor police Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said that the criminal investigation report will be ready around the same time as the technical report, adding that the report covers aspects of negligence and sabotage.
The April pipeline fire cost Petronas over $36 million, but the company said had minimal impact on its overall operations.
Meanwhile, Selangor has extended rental aid for Putra Heights Victims through April 2026.
