World’s first and leading thermoplastic composite pipe (TCP) company, Strohm, has secured a contract to supply four TCP Jumpers for installation in a deepwater field offshore Malaysia for a major Southeast Asian operator with international exploration projects.

According to Strohm’s announcement on Wednesday, August 20, the contract was secured through Dynamic Ocean Sdn Bhd (DOSB), which is licensed to undertake such contracts in Malaysia on behalf of Strohm.

Designed with an internal diameter exceeding 7 inches, the large-bore jumpers are collapse-resistant, making them suitable for subsea gas production —a significant technological advancement in offshore gas production operations.

Due to their strength, the TCP Jumpers (made of carbon fibre PA12 (CF/PA12)) will be critical for gas production service in high-pressure underwater environments of up to 10,000 psi and a depth of up to 1500 meters.

This offers critical support for offshore gas production infrastructure, while also enabling the safe and efficient transportation of hydrocarbons from underwater wells to processing facilities.

TCP is known to be exceptionally resistant to corrosion and fatigue-based failures due to its carbon fibres, making it a suitable choice for jumpers, risers, and flowlines for water, sweet and sour hydrocarbons, and gas service.

It’s also lightweight and spoolable, allowing for easy installation using small vessels or subsea pallets. This lowers transport and installation costs while reducing the CO2 emissions associated with the project.

Strohm’s Vice President for the Middle East & Asia-Pacific, Fabienne Ellington, stated that the contract reflects continued confidence from clients in the company's ability to deliver “reliable, high-performance solutions" suitable for complex environments.

She described the design and delivery of the carbon fibre-based jumpers as "an engineering milestone."

Jackie Ling, Business Development Director for DOSB, Strohm's business partner in Malaysia, also expressed confidence in their company's readiness to deliver the project, adding that the "deployment of carbon fibre PA12 TCP Jumpers represents a significant step toward delivering safer, more sustainable, and cost-effective subsea solutions."

She emphasized that DOSB's innovative approach "has the potential to shape the future of offshore developments for Malaysian operators and fields."

Srohm said the jumpers will be manufactured in its facility in the Netherlands, tested, and made ready for installation ahead of the planned delivery in the third quarter of 2026.
