Offshore energy infrastructure contractor Subsea7 has secured a major subsea pipeline replacement contract from Brunei Shell Petroleum to support key production assets located off the coast of Brunei, the company announced.

The Oslo-listed offshore construction specialist categorized the new assignment as a sizeable contract award, placing its overall value between $50 million and $150 million.

The project further expands Subsea7’s growing international order backlog amid steady global demand for subsea engineering, pipeline construction, and offshore installation capabilities.

Under the scope of the agreement, Subsea7 will handle the complete engineering, procurement, construction, and installation (EPCI) of subsea pipelines along with associated riser systems.

The replacement pipeline infrastructure will directly connect and service critical offshore production facilities operating in shallow waters at depths of up to 50 meters (164 feet).

Project management and preliminary engineering work will commence immediately.

Primary operational execution will be managed from Subsea7’s main regional office in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, supported by technical expertise from auxiliary engineering teams located in Perth, Australia, Paris, France, and other global operational hubs.

Subsea7 did not publicly disclose detailed project parameters, withholding specific pipeline distances, offshore campaign schedules, or the specialized vessel fleet earmarked for the installation work.

Nevertheless, the award reinforces a long-standing operational partnership with Brunei Shell Petroleum that originally dates back to 2018.

The Brunei contract represents the latest in a string of major subsea pipeline wins for Subsea7 this year.

In May, the firm landed a $150 million to $300 million contract for gas export pipeline infrastructure servicing the Goliat field in the Barents Sea.  

That followed a massive April award from Petrobras valued at over $1.25 billion for Brazil's deepwater Sépia 2 development.

Furthermore, the contractor expanded its footprint in the Americas after securing dedicated engineering and pipeline installation responsibilities for Murphy Oil’s String Music project in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico.

The continuous flow of contract awards underscores Subsea7’s prominent position in designing, constructing, and maintaining essential offshore subsea pipeline networks across global offshore basins.
