Ukrainian kamikaze drones struck a key pumping station for pipeline oil in Russia’s Bryansk region early Wednesday, Ukrainian intelligence officials reported.

The strike, which targeted the Unecha oil pumping station on the Transneft Druzhba main pipeline, located in the town of Unecha, marks the latest round of Ukrainian attacks on Russian energy infrastructure.

Sources within Ukraine's Defence Intelligence Directorate (HUR) confirmed that the operation was a joint effort by HUR and other units of the Ukrainian Defense Forces, with local reports on Telegram channels describing a series of explosions in the area and a large fire that erupted at the station.

With the Unecha facility being a critical hub in the vast Druzhba pipeline system, which supplies fuel to Russia's military-industrial complex, the strike is part of a broader Ukrainian campaign aimed at disrupting the logistics and energy networks supporting Russia’s war efforts.

Following the attack, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported that a total of 46 Ukrainian drones were shot down overnight across Russia and annexed Crimea, including 15 over the Bryansk region.

The ministry also cited drone interceptions over the Volgograd, Rostov, Krasnodar, Belgorod, and Voronezh regions, as well as over the Sea of Azov and Crimea.

The latest attack follows a long-range drone strike on Sunday, Aug. 10, by HUR on the Lukoil-Ukhtaneftepererabotka oil refinery in Russia’s Komi Republic, hitting a fuel reservoir and damaging a gas processing unit.

Located over 1,200 miles from the border, the facility is also considered a vital supplier of fuel to Russian forces. HUR sources said the Sunday strike hit a fuel reservoir and damaged a gas processing unit.

Early last month, Kyiv Independent reported that the Ukrainian Defence Forces struck a key Russian military pipelines supplying military facilities in the far eastern city of Vladivostok, citing a source within HUR.

The blast resulted in a fire that ravaged parts of the Vladivostok gas pipeline along the coast of the Sea of Japan.
