Gasunie To Bring Hydrogen To Shore With North Sea Pipeline Network

Dutch gas grid operator Gasunie will oversee development of a hydrogen network in the North Sea, noted the Netherlands Energy Minister Rob Jetten in a letter to parliament.

Part of the ambitious project is the conversion of much of the Netherlands' natural gas network to hydrogen over the coming decade.

Manchester Airport to become UK's First Airport with a Hydrogen Fuel Pipeline

Manchester Airport could become the first airport in the UK to access the hydrogen fuel pipeline. The airport said  that hydrogen technology is expected to play a critical role in the decarbonization of the aviation sector as it inches closer to operating hydrogen-powered aircraft in the mid-2030s for short-haul journeys.

Germany Seeking "A Boom" in Hydrogen Energy

The German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action said in a strategy paper over the weekend that Germany plans to develop an 1800-km hydrogen energy pipeline by 2027.

The paper also envisages Germany fostering the use of blue hydrogen and importing it during a transition period towards green hydrogen.

Santos Shut Down the Aussie Gas Field Due to a Leak in an Offshore Subsea Export Pipeline

Australian gas operator, Santos, was, on November 29, 2022, forced to shut down a gas field offshore Western Australia after the company detected a gas leak on the subsea gas export pipeline. Santos reported on Tuesday that the leak was discovered during routine activities on John Brookes’s offshore gas platform, which is usually unmanned.
