A double pipeline is set to be developed in the New Administrative Capital (NAC), under construction in Upper Egypt, to reinforce the irrigation water supply.

Hassan Allam Construction, a subsidiary of Hassan Allam Holding, has been awarded the contract to construct a double pipeline built in the NAC of Egypt. The company announced that the double pipeline would be 1500mm wide and 6.5km long. The two pipes will transfer water from the New Administrative Capital's water treatment plant to the irrigation reservoirs in the initial stage of the R8 residential area.

"The project aims to strengthen the supply of irrigation water in the NAC in a context marked by water stress," said the project's implementer.

A Sustainable Administrative Capital

According to the project implementer, the New Administrative Capital hosts 6.5 million people, which is expected to be 40 million by 2025. This new city is expected to be sustainable. Electricity from solar photovoltaic mini-power stations will power the buildings in the city.

Hassan Allam intends to design a mobile application that will enable city dwellers to get information and gain from all the services connected with solid waste management. In addition, the waste products in the new capital will be converted into energy, thus, providing electricity for the city inhabitants.

Various companies have been granted concessions. For instance, Saudi company Fas has agreed to build waste-to-energy plants. In addition, the company will use $300M to construct incinerators to handle the waste from the new cities in Upper Egypt.
