Editors Note: John Tiratsoo, has passed away.

John Tiratsoo and Klaus Ritter during ptc 2013 in Berlin, Germany

The passing of John Tiratsoo fills me with sadness as I have come to know John as a visionary and motivated person in the international pipeline family who has pushed his work forward with dedication and endurance.

He sometimes made his way to Berlin and Hannover, where we had great times together in Germany’s finest beer gardens. I enjoyed his company as much as I admired his ideas in regards of the pipeline sector. Our industry has truly lost one of its best-known and much appreciated individuals.

Our deepest condolences go to his family and also to his colleagues and companions, who have accompanied him on his way for a long time.

Dr. Klaus Ritter,
Editor-in-Chief of Pipeline Technology Journal

From my student days at Cranfield University to present day with a continuing and passionate involvement in pipelines (whether in design, risk based IMR), that same passion was also felt and captured from John whenever we met up whether in his office in Beaconsfield filled with volumes of conference proceedings from floor to ceiling, whether in a local hostelry for lunch and a pint, whether as a participant and contributor to conference or to Pipelines International - I will always remember John with great fondness, humility, sincerity, and that passion for pipelines and all things related. Truly a globally significant and contributor to our world of pipelines. Forever missed - with deepest sympathies to family Professor David Newman
