The german association MWV, short for Mineralöl Wirtschafts Verband (mineral oil economic association), welcomes VARO Energy Refining and several other companies as new members.

VARO, a company from Switzerland, specialises in the downstream sector. The company is a major shareholder of the Bayernoil Raffinerie in Neustadt an der Donau with around 45%.

So far only companies with a share in refineries could join the association, but the MWV extended this group by allowing pipeline companies to become support members. These companies have worked with the MWV before and they coordinate their work and projects with the Committee for mineral oil pipelines. The seven companies that joined the MWV together with VARO are the FBG (Fernleitungs-Betriebsgesellschaft mbH), the MERO (Mitteleuropäische Rohölleitung Germany AG), the MVL (Mineralölverbundleitung GmbH), the NWO (Nord-West Oelleitung GmbH), the RMR (Rhein-Main-Rohrleitungstransportgesellschaft mbH), the RRP (N.V. Rotterdam-Rijn Pijpleiding Maatschappij) and the TAL (Transalpine Oelleitung).

"We are very happy about the membership of VARO and the pipeline companies. The new members confirm the importance of our association as the most important representative of the interests of the mineral industry in Germany. With VARO, 100 percent of the refinery capacities in Germany are now under the roof of the association." says MWV managing director Prof. Christian Küchen.
