Odessa-Brody Pipeline Project to be Revived

On July 14, the Presidents of Ukraine and Azerbaijan Pyotr Poroshenko and Ilkham Aliyev revealed in a joint press conference that they are interested in implementing the Odessa-Brody pipeline project. In 2001, this pipeline was constructed for connecting Brody in the Lvov Region and Odessa on the Black Sea. However, the pipeline project has not been used often, since its construction.
After a meeting with the Ukraine President in Baku, Aliyev said that they have discussed the Odesa-Brody pipeline project seriously because the European market receives a large volume of oil from Azerbaijan's oil reservoirs. If the project is revived, it will connect the Baltic Sea, Black Sea and the Caspian Sea creating good opportunities for transport.
"This triangle has the potential for cooperation, and I consider that without doubt the role of the transport corridor is the key one in our cooperation," Aliyev added.
