Polyurethane field joint coatings provider Company Services Swiss SA (CSS) and Italian underwater engineering specialist Drafinsub have announced a merger to establish a comprehensive hub for integrated offshore infrastructures and underwater pipelines services.

As Offshore reported on Tuesday, November 28, the new holding company, CSS Drafinsub Holding, will be headquartered in Chiasso, Switzerland, and will operate from bases in Genoa, Castelnuovo Bocca d'Adda, and Sicily, Italy; Johor, Malaysia; Abu Dhabi and Dubai, United Arab Emirates; and Mexico City, Mexico.

The merger will combine the expertise of CSS and Drafinsub to provide a complete range of services, from pre-installation inspections to installation and maintenance, testing, and commissioning. The company will offer its services to major marine contractors, including Saipem, McDermott, NPCC, L&T, Leighton, and Subsea7.

Fabio Valentini, current CEO of CSS SA, will serve as chairman of the new holding company, while Drafinsub CEO Gianluca Passeri will become managing director.

CSS Subsea has a proven track record of success, having completed numerous projects over the past year, including inspections on pipelines, installations of protections for Prysmian cables, work on the Capo Cassiopea expansion for Enimed Sicilia (Saipem/Eni), and trenching to protect connections at depths of up to 660 meters.

Drafinsub has extensive experience in deepwater operations, including work on underwater pipelines in Lake Garda, northern Italy.
