Ugandan-Tanzanian Framework Agreement Signed for 1,445 km Pipeline Construction

The governments of Tanzania and Uganda have signed a framework agreement governing the construction of a $3.55 bn,1445-km, 24 inch diameter crude oil pipeline from landlocked Uganda to the blue water Tanzanian port of Tanga.

The pipeline would transport to market recoverable Ugandan reserves estimated between 1.4 - 1.7 bn barrels.

Oil and Gas Prices Remain Stable as Diplomatic Relations Fray between Qatar and Saudi Arabia

The Saudi - led group of countries severing diplomatic relations with Qatar today will have no significant impact on the price of oil, according to Alastair Newton, of Alavan Business Advisory in Livingstone, Zambia.

Newton said there is a large surplus on the supply side relative to the demand side and that this will continue to exert downward pressure on the price.

MMT Sweden Secures Major Pipeline Inspection Contract from Nord Stream AG

MMT Sweden, a marine survey company engaged around the world, has been awarded a three year contract by Nord Stream AG to inspect both lines of the Nord Stream Pipeline running along the floor of the Baltic Sea.

The external inspection of the pipeline will be executed by the joint venture between MMT Sweden and Reach Subsea.

Libyan Gas Pipelines Shut Down Again

National Oil Company (NOC), the Libyan state oil company, said an unidentified armed group has blocked gas pipelines from the Wafa oil field in Libya to a local power plant and the Mellitah gas export terminal on the coast.

This comes on the heels of the lifting of a force majeure edict imposed by the NOC on Wafa and said that its pipelines were open for operations.

Yokogawa Secures Another Major Contract For Its SCADA Systems

Yokogawa UK, a subsidiary of Yokogawa Electric Corporation, has received an order from the British Pipeline Agency (BPA) for a management and control system for a multi-product fuel pipeline.

This project will replace BPA’s existing pipeline management and supervisory control and data acquisition (Scada) systems.

Marubeni - Itocha Joint Venture Chosen to Build PTT Pipeline

PTT, Thailand's largest energy company, has selected a Marubeni / Itochu joint venture to construct a 430 km natural gas pipeline in Thailand.

Chavalit Punthong, chief operation officer of Infrastructure and Sustainability Management Group, said the pipeline will stretch from Rayong to Nonthaburi, just north of the capital Bangkok.
