Colonial Pipeline shut down some fuel networks As Hurricane Ida made a historic landfall

On Sunday, August 29, 2021, Colonial Pipeline announced a shutdown of some of its fuel pipeline networks following an “extremely dangerous category 4 hurricane” that blasted the U.S Gulf Coast.

Ida Hurricane blasted ashore close to Port Fourchon, Louisiana, at around noon, bringing pipeline transport using part of the company’s networks to a temporary halt.

The Difficult Birth of Russia's Gas Link to Germany, Nord Stream 2

Nord Stream 2, with but 15-km of undersea pipe laying to go, is back in the news this week with additional U.S. sanctions being imposed on ship Ostap Sheremeta, ship owner JSC Nobility and construction company Konstanta, the State Department said in a report to congressional committees. A copy of the report was seen by Reuters.

Ukraine Discussed Guarantees Over Nord Stream 2 with US and Germany

Following the completion of Russia's Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline, the energy ministers of Ukraine, the United States, and Germany met on Monday to discuss guarantees for Ukraine's future as a transit country. Ukraine's energy minister said the discussions focused on Ukraine's future.

MSA Safety And Shell Continue Their 30-Year Partnership

MSA Safety announced it has been named a preferred supplier of portable gas detection equipment for Royal Dutch Shell.  This is part of a three-year agreement to supply portable gas detection equipment and other safety technology to Shell’s offshore and onshore facilities and installations worldwide. The agreement continues the 30 years of cooperation between Shell and MSA.

Turkey's Largest Gas Discovery To Be Connected Via Pipeline to Main Grid

Turkey has begun work on a 169-km underwater gas pipeline in the Sakarya gas field in the Black Sea, which at 540 bcm is the country's biggest discovery to date. The pipeline is scheduled to be constructed in 2022 to connect the wells of Sakarya to Turkey's main grid.

SSE Goes Green - SGN Experimenting With Hydrogen

New Pakistan Gas Pipeline Proposed

As part of efforts to tackle Pakistan’s energy shortages. It has been agreed, by both the Pakistan and Russian governments to explore the viability of building a 1,100-km gas pipeline from Port Qasim in Karachi to Lahore at an estimated cost of USD 2.5-3 billion by the end of 2023. The project is called the Pakstream Gas Pipeline Project commonly known as North-South Gas project.

The US To At Last Take A Stand On Cyber Security

Pipelines are the Most Economic Option for Hydrogen Transportation

In Europe for distances of up to around 10,000 km, hydrogen transport in pipelines is the most economical option. The “European Hydrogen Backbone” (EHB) study states specific transportation prices of approx. 0.16 €/kg per 1,000 km, with pipelines almost fully utilised.
